Nashville was good to me as I celebrated bringing in #47. It all started with Dolly Day on 9/25 as we sang along to the hit song 9 to 5. There was pink everywhere! Even though I didn’t get a chance to grab a pink cocktail dress to wear in the city, I was able to find some furry hot pink earrings to celebrate. Boy, it was fun seeing 90’s county line dancing and when the band hit the 9 to 5 beat, the unity in the room was unbelievable.
During my time spent in Nashville, I visited the Dolly Parton’s Storyteller Hotel and Life of Many Colors Museum. Inside is very pretty with a 15 minute video intro in the lobby and a replica of the dress she had planned to wear for the grand opening. The hotel wasn’t fully open, however the next time I will be making reservations for Jolene’s.
Someone asked what’s my connection with Dolly? It’s probably my time spent in East Tennessee where I started my fashion career. Who knows? And, the love of rhinestones too!
My main character era has began with a little reinvention. I like to say that I’ve taken the best highlights of my life so far, and created an upgraded version of myself. A young lady once told me, “Valarie, I want to say that it seems like you have lived nine lives already.” Maybe, I have or just had a lot of life experiences. The main thing is change is good. Having confidence in being yourself and growing is what life is about.
